A main trailer and visual for the upcoming live-action drama series based on Parasyte author Hitoshi Iwaaki’s Tanabata no Kuni (Tanabata Country) sci-fi manga are now online. The tagline for the visual reads: “The mystery of ○○. If you touch it, you’re gouged.”
The original manga Tanabata no Kuni ran in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spririts from 1996 to 1999, then compiled in four tankobon volumes. The story centers on Youji Minamimaru, an ordinary college student who is nicknamed Nanmaru. He has one mysterious superpower that can makes small holes in everything. One day, a bizarre incident occurs in which a person’s body is gouged out and made to disappear by a mysterious sphere floating in midair. When university lecturer Emi tells Nanmaru that he has the same ability that caused the incident, Nanmaru goes to the town of Marukawa, known as “Marugami no Sato,” where he was taught that his roots lie….
