Next Manga Awards, a joint venture betwen monthly magazine Da Vinci and digital content site niconico, is officially back for its ninth edition since the contest for up-and-coming manga was established in 2014. After rounding up a whopping total of 8,212 fan submissions earlier this year, one hundred titles across two categories made the cut for the global voting that opened today.
Looking to succeed last year’s podium-finishers There is Also a Hole in the Student Organization!, Daemons of the Shadow Realm and The Ichinose Family’s Deadly Sins, the 2024 nominees for Print Manga are available in English here. Nominees for Web Manga are available here, which are vying to receive the baton from The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy At All, Neko Oji: The Guy That Got Reincarnated as a Cat and Kindergarten WARS.
Notable titles in contention this year include viral Shonen Jump hit Kagurabachi, Versus by One-Punch Man creator ONE, Dogsred by Golden Kamuy creator Satoru Noda, RuriDragon after its long-awaited return and Shinanonchi no Ikuru, the winner of AnimeJapan’s “Manga We Want To See Animated Ranking” poll for 2024.
Fans have until July 8 at 11:00 JST to submit up to three votes for each category, after which results will be announced on August 28.
