Awkward situations can sometimes make the best premises with the upcoming If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student TV anime adaptation, based on the manga by Yayu Murata. Today, the series released its first teaser trailer as well as announcing the lead cast member of the Niijima family and an October 2024 start.

Takae Niijima/Marika Shiraishi voiced by Aoi Yuki (Lucy in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners):
Mai Niijima voiced by Maiko Nomura (Hiromi Izumi in Okko’s Inn):
Noriyuki Abe (Yu Yu Hakusho) is the director of the Studio Signpost series. Sawako Hirabayashi (Delicious Party Precure) will handle the series composition and scripts with Narihito Sekikawa (BEM) on character designs. If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student is set to premiere in October 2024.The story follows Keisuke Niijima—who lost his beloved wife, Takae, ten years ago—and their daughter, Mai. They have been in a state of despair since Takae’s death. One evening, an elementary school girl visits the Niijima family claiming to be the reincarnation of Takae. At first they don’t believe her but the girl continues to give them information that only the family knows. Keisuke and Mai soon recognize her as Takae and the three begin to act together as a “family.”
