Ahead of the series’ much-anticipated July 3 broadcast and premiere at Anime Expo 2024, the Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian anime followed up last week’s Yuki character trailer with one for Mariya Mikhailovna Kujou/Masha, the student council secretary and older sister of Alya voiced by Yukiyo Fujii.
A new character trailer is being released every week in the leadup to the anime’s broadcast.
A new commercial for the anime was also released.
Based on the light novels by Sunsunsun and Momoco, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is being directed by Ryota Ito (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie), who also serves as series composer, at studio Doga Kobo alongside Yuhei Murota (Love Live! series) as character designer and chief animation director.
Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs in Japan and describes the story:
Alya is a transfer student enjoying popularity at her new high school, often sporting a cold shoulder while earning high marks in class. She ignores her nerdy classmate, Kuze Masachika, except for when she blurts out a flirtatious line to him in Russian. Little does she know, Kuze understands Russian, though he pretends not to. Let’s see where this wacky love story takes them!
