Ganbatte Ikimasshoi (“Give It All”), an upcoming 3DCG theatrical anime film based on the award-winning 1996 novel by Yoshiko Shikimura, has chosen the performers for the film’s theme. The film will be turning to Nogizaka46’s “official” rival group, Boku ga Mitakatta Aozora, for the as-yet-unnamed song.
The collaboration with the group, known to fans as BokuAo, was announced via this visual:
Group members expressed their excitement for the collab, noting that the film’s protagonist are of the same generation as the group. The film’s exploration of the joys of youth also aligns well with the group’s own themes.
More information on the song, including a title, will be forthcoming.
The original Ganbatte Ikimasshoi novel is published in Japan by Gentosha under their Gentosha Bunko imprint. Yuhei Sakuragi directs the film at Studi Moe and REIRS. Yuhei Sakuragi and Keiichiro Ochi and provide the script, while Asako Nishida provides the character designs. Ganbatte Ikimasshoi has previously been adapted into a live-action film in 1998 and a live-action TV drama in 2005.
Set in Matsuyama City in Ehime Prefecture, the story of Ganbatte Ikimasshoi follows the trials and tribulations of five girls who come together as members of their high school’s competitive rowing team.
The film will debut in Japan on October 25.
