A new original anime film Housenka by Baku Kinoshita, who directed the original TV anime series ODDTAXI, was announced on May 23. Kinoshita will direct and handle character design, with Kazuya Konomoto (who wrote the script for ODDTAXI) writing the screenplay. Animation creator and game art designer Michinoku-toge will provide the concept art.Anime production company CLAP (Pompo: The Cinéphile) will work on planning and production. The company’s official Twitter posted a visual that depicts the back of a man looking up at fireworks on a porch.
CLAP also announced that Housenka will participate in the “Work in Progress” program at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2024. “Work in Progress” is a program that introduces the production process of works scheduled for future releases. Director Kinoshita, producer and CLAP president Ryoichiro Matsuo, and concept art designer Michinoku-toge, will give the presentation on June 12. “I am teaming up with Kazuya Konomoto again to make a completely new original animation film. The title is ‘Housenka’,” said Kinoshita. “I would like to introduce this film’s production process, with some materials, at the Work in Progress program of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This is all I can say for now, but I think it will be an animation with a new kind of feeling. We are working hard on it with CLAP. Please look forward to it.”
