It’s a great week for fans of critically acclaimed manga, as the official website and accounts for The Summer Hikaru Died confirmed today that an anime adaptation of the psychological horror series is in the works.
Additional details about the project, such as staff, cast, release date and format, are yet to be announced.

Mokumokuren’s The Summer Hikaru Died manga has been serialized on Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up web imprint since August 2021 and currently spans four collected volumes, with the fifth due out on June 4. The series topped Kono Manga ga Sugoi!’s list for male readers in 2023, and has also been ranked/nominated for the Manga Taisho award, the Tsutaya Comic Awards, an Eisner Award and the Next Manga Award.
Yen Press publishes an official English version of the manga and describes the story:
