Ahead of its world premiere at Annecy International Animation Film Festival next month and Japanese theatrical release on August 30, upcoming anime film The Colors Within debuted a brand-new preview trailer today that includes extra scenes, such as Kimi playing the theremin, and additional characters like sisters Saku, Shiho and Sumika.
Naoko Yamada (K-ON!, A Silent Voice) helms The Colors Within as director and original creator at studio Science SARU, with a script by Reiko Yoshida (Liz and the Blue Bird), soundtrack by Kensuke Ushio (The Heike Story) and daisukerichard’s original character designs adapted for animation by Takashi Kojima (Ride Your Wave), who also serves as animation director.
GKIDS announced that they will distribute the film North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, and describes the story:
Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the ‘colors’ of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true ‘colors’?
