Inio Asano began publishing DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine from 2014-2022, for a total of 12 volumes. VIZ Media releases an English version of the manga.
Two movies based on the manga were released with the first part on March 22, with the second part premiering in Japan on May 24, 2024. Tomoyuki Kurokawa directed the films at studio Production +h, with Reiko Yoshida handling series composition, Nobutake Ito on character designs and chief animation direction and Taro Umebayashi on music. As previously reported, the first teaser trailer for the second movie announced the film will depict an original ending.
Synopsis:
As the world is threatened by the sudden appearance of a mysterious alien mothership, best friends Koyama Kadode and Nakagawa “Ontan” Oran carry on about their high school life. But as they grow up, they face existential questions, learning adulthood’s complexities and that the true threat may not be from above.
