Ahead of a July 2024 broadcast, the official website and accounts for the upcoming Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian anime revealed a brand-new trailer today, previewing the bilingual rapport between Alya and Masachika and the rom-com series’ opening theme song, “1-ban Kagayaku Hoshi” (“The Brightest Star”) by Sumire Uesaka as Alya.

Each episode will also feature a different ending theme song cover by Uesaka in character.

Based on the light novels by Sunsunsun and Momoco, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is being directed by Ryota Ito (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie), who also serves as series composer, at studio Doga Kobo alongside Yuhei Murota (Love Live! series) as character designer and chief animation director.

Yen Press publishes an official English version of the light novels and describes the story:

Masachika Kuse sits next to Arya, a girl of Russian and Japanese descent. She’s beautiful, haughty, and an exceptional student, while Masachika is nerdy and known for being a slacker. He’s an easy target for her comments in Russian, which she’s all too happy to translate-except he can understand what she’s really saying!
