Ahead of the third season’s sixth episode broadcast this weekend, which will see the culmination of the Kitauji High School concert band’s hard work thus far, the official website and accounts for the Sound! Euphonium anime today released an ‘Audition Start Arc’ story visual that paints a picture of determination among club members.

Based on the novels by Ayano Takeda, Tatsuya Ishihara (Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions) directs the third season of Sound! Euphonium at studio Kyoto Animation, with series composition by Jukki Hanada (Love Live! Superstar!!), character designs by Kazumi Ikeda and Shoko Ikeda and music by Akito Matsuda (Unnamed Memory).

Spring in the first year of high school. Kumiko, a member of the brass band in junior high school, visits the high school brass band club with classmates Hazuki and Sapphire. There, she comes across Reina, her former classmate from junior high. Hazuki and Sapphire decide to join the club, but Kumiko can’t make up her mind. She recollects her experience with Reina at a competition in junior high school.
