A blast from the past is back! Back in the 1990s (we’d call it the heyday of Neon Genesis Evangelion, but Eva never truly dies), garage kit makers showcased their skills with a pair of highly popular Eva selections. Now, hobbyists of the Reiwa Era can try their hand at these classic kits: a customizable Rei Ayanami and an impressive EVA-01.
Released in the late ’90s, this 1/4-scale Rei Ayanami kit was modeled by Baume. Unusually for the sculptor, Rei has a very straightforward and neutral pose, most suitable for soft vinyl figures. The finished kit stands 43cm tall:
Released in 1997, the EVA-01 kit was modeled by Takashi Kinoshita, considered by many to be the best Ultraman sculptor in Japan. Like the Rei Ayanami kit, this soft vinyl garage kit is also being newly printed for modern builders and painters to try:

Both kits are now available for pre-order. The Rei Ayanami kit is priced at 10,780 yen, and the EVA-01 kit is priced at 16,500 yen (tax included in both cases). Orders are scheduled to ship out sometime in July.
