2024 marks the 50th anniversary of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and everyone’s favorite cybernetic giant monster impostor is celebrating in style with a premium DX Soul of Chogokin figure from Bandai’s Tamashii Nations toy line.
The “DX Soul of Chogokin Mechagodzilla 1974” figure stands about 270 millimeters (about 10.6 inches) tall and is made from die-cast metal, ABS and POM. It comes with multicolored LEDs in the head and chest to simulate laser attacks and built-in speakers to recreate the sound effects of Mechagodzilla’s many offensive weapons as well as background musical cues. It also comes with swappable head and tail parts to simulate Mechagodzilla’s flight mode.
The “DX Soul of Chogokin Mechagodzilla” 1974 figure retails for 39,600 yen (about $257 US) including tax. Pre-orders for the toy begin on May 10, 2024, with the final product scheduled to begin shipping in Japan in December 2024.
