Yura Urushibara’s dark fantasy manga series Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood will be adapted into a TV anime series next year. To accompany the announcement, the first teaser trailer and visual for the series was revealed alongside three main cast members of the clash between the “Oni” and “Momotaro” clans.
The first three cast members revealed for Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood are:
Shiki Ichinose voiced by Kazuki Ura (Yoichi Isagi in BLUE LOCK)
Naito Mudano voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya (Koyomi Araragi in Monogatari)
Jin Kougasaki voiced by Koutaro Nishiyama (Koji Tatsuishi in My Happy Marriage)
Outside of a 2025 release window, no more details on the series have been announced at this stage.
The original Tougen Anki manga, written by Yura Urushibara, is serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion with the 20th collected volume set to be released on May 8 in Japan. Yen Press will release an English-translated version starting September 17.
According to the press release, the Tougen Anki anime is described as such:
“You inherit the blood of an Oni (demon)…”
The bloodlines of “Oni” and “Momotaro” have been passed down among certain humans for generations. Long ago, the Oni, aware of their own ferocity, lived in seclusion. However, their peace was shattered by an invasion led by Momotaro. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the “Momotaro Agency” and the “Oni Agency,” respectively, and have been locked in conflict ever since.
The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage following an unexpected attack by Momotaro. This revelation sets Shiki on a path to discover the destiny that lies within his blood — a meeting with the Oni dwelling within him.
