Golden Kamuy, a live-action film based on the historical adventure manga of the same name, has revealed a trailer for international audiences (below). The film begins streaming on Netflix in worldwide markets on May 19, 2024.The original Golden Kamuy manga by Satoru Noda was serialized from August 2014 – April 2022 by Shueisha in their Weekly Young Jump seinen manga magazine, and an English language version is available from VIZ Media. Shigeaki Kubo directs the live-action film adaptation, and Kento Yamazaki and Anna Yamada star as Sugimoto and Asirpa, respectively. Crunchyroll currently streams the Golden Kamuy TV anime.

In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi “Immortal” Sugimoto scratches out a meager existence during the postwar gold rush in the wilderness of Hokkaido. When he stumbles across a map to a fortune in hidden Ainu gold, he sets off on a treacherous quest to find it. But Sugimoto is not the only interested party, and everyone who knows about the gold will kill to possess it!
