The official website for KING OF PRISM -Dramatic PRISM.1-, the first feature film in four years from the KING OF PRISM anime franchise, announced that the movie is set to release in theaters across Japan on August 16, 2024. The site also confirmed that it will be a compilation film based on the KING OF PRISM -Shiny Seven Stars- TV series aired in 2019.The site posted a new teaser trailer to announce the release date. The film centers on a new Prism Show Championship, PRISM.1. Selected members from both Edel Rose and Schwarz Rose compete in a number of fierce battles (shows). According to the clip, “the famous song” in the series will be made into a new CG live performance.
The film’s key visual newly drawn by character designer Mai Matsuura was also revealed. The tagline reads: “What we met was an extraordinary dramatic miracle.”
Character designer Matsuura also posted a new celebratory illustration on the film’s official Twitter account. The “MoviTike” edition advance tickets for the film are now available for theaters in Japan starting April 26.
The KING OF PRISM franchise originally launched in January 2016 as a spin-off to the 2013-2014 TV anime Pretty Rhythm: RainbowLive, the third installment of the Pretty series co-produced by Tatsunoko Production and Dong Woo Animation. Its first film KING OF PRISM by Pretty Rhythm released in January 2016, and its sequel KING OF PRISM: Pride the Hero followed in June 2017. Its third installment, KING OF PRISM: Shiny Seven Stars screened in theaters first in four chapters from March to May 2019, and its 12-episode TV series edition aired from April to July 2019. After appearing in the Prism King Cup representing Edel Rose, and getting a glimpse of what it was like to a be a future Prism Star, Ichijo Shin entered Kakyoin Academy’s High School division in spring and became a first-year high school student. Koji, Hiro, and Kazuki from Over The Rainbow left Edel Rose and established a new agency.Meanwhile, after having the title of Prism King stolen by Hiro, the leader of Schwarz Rose, Norizuki Jin, proposes PRISM.1, which would decide a new king other than Prism King. He then announces that Schwarz Rose and Edel Rose will be competing with each other.
