When Fast & Furious director Justin Lin was revealed to be at the helm of the live-action One-Punch Man film back in June 2022, the script was in the hands of Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner of Venom and Jumanji: The Next Level. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon is teaming up with writer Heather Anne Campbell (Rick and Morty, The Eric Andre Show) on a rewrite of the script.The news closed out the end of the latest update on Justin Lin’s directorial work. The next project he’s hopped on is crime thriller Stakehorse, based on a script by Justin Piasecki that found itself near the top of the 2023 Black List. In addition to that and One-Punch Man, Lin has the thriller Two for the Money—starring Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig—in the works at Apple.
The One-Punch Man anime is based on the manga written by ONE (Mob Psycho 100) and illustrated by Yusuke Murata (Eyeshield 21), which itself is based on the original webcomic by ONE. VIZ Media publishes the series in English and describes it like so:
Every time a promising villain appears, Saitama beats the snot out of ’em with one punch! Can he finally find an opponent who can go toe-to-toe with him and give his life some meaning? Or is he doomed to a life of superpowered boredom?
