Today, creditless opening and ending videos have dropped, showcasing the spring anime’s new theme songs.The opening, “EVOLVE,” is performed by singer and voice actor Shota Aoi—who is also the voice of Allen, the banished former hero of the title:
The show’s ending theme, “Meritocracy,” is performed by singer and voice actress Aimi, who also appears in the series as Mylene.
The original The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases light novels are written by Shin Kouduki, illustrated by Chocoan, and published in Japan by TO Books under their TO Bunko imprint. An English language version is also available from J-Novel Club. Kazuomi Koga directs the TV anime adaptation at animation studios Studio Deen and Marvy Jack.The series is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, described thus:
