Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, the first part of the Haikyu!! FINAL duology anime films, earned 488 million yen (3.22 million USD) on 333,500 admissions in its seventh weekend (March 29-31), according to Kogyo Tsushinsha. The result was 8.1 percent down from the previous sixth-weekend revenue, but was enough to keep the film in the same second place it held last weekend. The film’s cumulative total revenue since its release has reached 8.75 billion yen (57.71 million USD) on 6.1 million admissions, making it the 72nd top-grossing film of all time in Japan, surpassing The Matrix (1999 / 8.7 billion yen).

Doraemon: Nobita’s Earth Symphony, the Doraemon anime franchise’s latest 43rd feature film, also held the same third-place position it held last week. In its fifth weekend, the movie earned 318 million yen (2.1 million USD) on 263,100 admissions, bringing its total to 3.1 billion yen (20.45 million USD) on 2.59 million admissions.

Godzilla Minus One still ranked seventh in its 22nd weekend. The 30th Japanese Godzilla film’s official Twitter announced on April 1 the movie earned 7.13 billion yen (47 million USD) on 4.7 million admissions from its domestic run in 150 days since its release (including the revenue from the black-and-white version Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color ).Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, the feature film sequel from the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed franchise, ranked eighth in its tenth weekend, two positions up from last weekend. The official website reported on April 1 the film has made 4,229,756,590 yen (27.9 million USD) on 2,509,428 admissions in 66 days since its release in Japan on January 26. The live-action film adaptation of Fujimomo’s romance shojo manga Lovesick Ellie (known as Koiwazurai no Ellie in Japan) ranked ninth in its third weekend, one position down from last weekend. After making its seventh-place debut last weekend, the first of the two-part Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction anime film, based on Inio Asano’s (Solanin, Downfall) manga of the same name, disappeared from the Top 10 in its second weekend. To celebrate the release of the fourth and fifth DVD/Blu-ray volumes of the Shinjuku Incident arc, the JUJUTSU KAISEN anime franchise held a one-week-only screening of Episodes 41-44 at 30 theaters in Japan from March 29 to April 4. Due to the small number of theaters, it did not rank in the overall Top 10, but ranked #1 in Kogyo Tsushinsha’s mini-theater ranking of the weekend.
