In November of 2023, the Pole Princess!! web anime was adapted into a motion picture. The film ran for nearly four months at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Wald 9, closing on March 21. Now, to celebrate the enthusiastic response to the film, fans across Japan will be able to see it on the big screen.Next month, Pole Princess!! the Movie will begin its 47-Prefecture Nationwide Tour Screening. One movie theater per prefecture, from Hokkaido’s Sapporo Cinema Frontier to Okinawa’s Southernplex, will run for a limited engagement. A full schedule is available on the film’s news page. Theatergoers will also receive a postcard featuring new artwork.
Pole Princess!! began on its own YouTube channel in December 2022, where it ran for a prologue and seven episodes (each spanning 5-7 minutes). The series follows 17-year-old Hinano, whose grandmother owns a planetarium. Just after she finds that the planetarium is about to be shut down, she meets a beautiful woman dancing on a pole. The chance encounter gives her an idea: draw people to the failing planetarium by building a stage for pole dancing shows.
