The Baki and Kengan Ashura series both have enough brutal fights on their own, but what if we mashed ’em together like so many flying fists? That’s a question the Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura anime aims to answer, and the crossover slobberknocker is officially set to hit Netflix on June 6, 2024. Billed as a Netflix film, the collaboration was announced during Netflix’s AnimeJapan 2024 stage event, and it will have Baki Hanma voice actor Nobunaga Shimazaki and Tokita Ohma voice actor Tatsuhisa Suzuki returning in their respective roles. Toshiki Hirano (Devilman Lady, Fist of the North Star: Legend of Kenshiro) picks up from the Baki and Baki Hanma anime series as director, with Atsuo Ishino (episodes of Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! – Rising, Baki Hanma) on the script. Baki Hanma is the latest anime series to adapt the long-running, hyper-violent martial arts manga by Keisuke Itagaki, and is directed by Toshiki Hirano at animation studio TMS Entertainment. Meanwhile, Kengan Ashura is based on the manga written by Yabako Sandrovich and illustrated by Daromeon. Seiji Kishi directs that series at animation studio LARX ENTERTAINMENT.
