A first look of the characters of the much-anticipated newest work from the Super Peace Busters — the creative group that includes director Tatsuyuki Nagai, writer/director Mari Okada and artist Masayoshi Tanaka — was released today for the original anime film Fureru at AnimeJapan today during a special stage event. The panel gave us the first peek at childhood friends, who are now in their 20’s and are living their lives in downtown Tokyo.

CloverWorks will produce the Fureru anime movie, scheduled for a fall 2024 release. The Super Peace Busters creative team previously made Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, The Anthem of the Heart and Her Blue Sky together.Fureru is described as a coming-of-age film set in present-day Tokyo surrounding the Shinjuku area. The movie centers on childhood friends who find a creature with mysterious powers that push them to discover the bonds that tie the three students together.
