The official accounts for the Haikyu!!  anime series revealed a bunch of updates for the volleyball anime’s roster today, taking the worldwide box office total off the bench as well as announcing “Last Match“ screenings for the HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle anime film.

As of Monday, July 8, HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle has passed 20 million yen (US$124.41 million, at current rates for reference) at the worldwide box office, with 11.21 billion yen (US$74.32 million) of that coming from screens in Japan. That makes the film part of the top 20 highest-grossing anime films of all time worldwide while continuing to be the 15th highest-grossing anime film in Japan and the 35th highest-grossing movie overall.

Alongside the box office update, a “Last Match” screening was announced for August 18, the day before Haikyu!! Day on August 19. The screening will be held at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya after the 5:20 pm screening with theaters across Japan live-streaming the event. Ayumu Murase, Yuki Kaji, Kaito Ishikawa and Koki Uchiyama will be on stage at the event. A special “Last Match Ticket-style sticker” will be given out to those at this screening as a souvenir.

While billed as a “Last Match” screening, there is no confirmation that this will be the last day of The Dumpster Battle’s theatrical run.

Toho Animation returns to produce the two Haikyu!! FINAL anime films with the animation continuing to be made by the team at Production I.G, including Susumu Mitsunaka as director and screenwriter, Takahiro Kishida as character designer and Takahiro Chiba as chief animation director. The first film, titled HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, was released in Japan on February 16, 2024. No date for the second film has been announced as of yet. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment released the film internationally on May 30.

Haruichi Furudate published the original Haikyu!! manga series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020 for a total of 45 volumes. VIZ Media releases an English-language version of the manga.

Crunchyroll currently streams each previous season of the Haikyu!! anime, and describes the HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle movie:

Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High’s volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?
