Ahead of an October 2024 broadcast, the official website and accounts for the upcoming Murai in Love anime celebrated Tanabata today with an ‘extreme’ illustration by original manga creator Junta Shima, depicting main characters Murai and Ayano as star-crossed lovers Hikoboshi and Orihime.
The pair are voiced by Kengo Takanashi and Yoko Hikasa, respectively.

Based on the manga by Junta Shima, Yoshinobu Yamakawa (The Duke of Death and His Maid) directs Murai in Love at studio J.C.STAFF, with series composition by Susumu Yamakawa (The Way of the Househusband), music by Ruka Kawada (The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague) and sound direction by Jin Aketagawa.
As previously reported for the series’ live-action drama adaptation, the story tells a romantic comedy between Tanaka, a high school teacher who loves otome games, and Murai, a high school boy who is in love with Tanaka. Tanaka, who has never been involved in a real-life romance, is confessed to by Murai but rejects his confession. On the next day, Murai transforms himself into the exact likeness of Tanaka’s favorite character from her favorite otome game.
Disney+ is slated to stream the anime worldwide sometime this fall.
