The official Magic Knight Rayearth series accounts and TMS Entertainment announced on July 1 that a new Magic Knight Rayearth anime project is in production in conjunction with the series’ 30th anniversary. A new trailer and visual announcing the project was also released. Details including release date, staff and cast was not announced at the time of reporting.

CLAMP released the original Magic Knight Rayearth manga from 1993 to 1995 with Magic Knight Rayearth 2 released from 1995 to 1996 in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine, with a total of six volumes released in Japan. Kodansha USA releases both the first and second English versions of the manga. Toshihiro Hirano directed the anime series at TMS Entertainment from 1994 to 1995 for a total of 49 episodes. The three-part OVA Rayearth was released in 1997, directed at Keitaro Motonaga and Toshiki Hirano also at TMS Entertainment. Crunchyroll currently streams the original Magic Knight Rayearth anime and describes the series:
