Kafka Hibino’s story isn’t over! Following the end of Episode 12 of the anime series, a Kaiju No. 8 sequel was officially announced and Crunchyroll is confirming it will stream the series when it returns. No further details were announced for the Kaiju No. 8 continuation at the time of publication.
Additionally, Koki Uchiyama (Soul in Soul Eater) was confirmed to play the role of Gen Narumi, captain of the First Division.
The first season of Kaiju No. 8 brought fans into the story of Kafka Hibino, Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, and the rest of the Defense Force as they dealt with the fallout of the continuing kaiju campaign against humanity. The original Kaiju No. 8 manga by Naoya Matsumoto is serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ manga magazine, and an English language version is also available from VIZ Media. Shigeyuki Miya directs the Kaiju No. 8 TV anime at animation studio Production I.G. (Haikyu!!, PSYCHO-PASS). Ichiro Okouchi provides the series composition, Tetsuya Nishio serves as chief animation director and character designer, Mahiro Maeda provides the kaiju design, Shinji Kimura serves as art director, and Yuta Bandoh provides the music.
Crunchyroll broadcast new episodes of the series weekly as they aired in Japan and streams the series on its platform. Kaiju No. 8 is described as:
In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Soon, life takes them in separate ways. While employed cleaning up after Kaiju battles, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka’s promise to join Mina and protect humanity.
