Three new idol hopefuls are singing and dancing their way to the top—and they’re starting on YouTube! The popular Aikatsu! series has just announced the debut of Aikatsu Academy!, a new project streaming exclusively on YouTube.The series will follow three new idols in training: Himeno Mieru, Mamimu Meh and Wao Parin. But since they’re currently unknown, they decide to do their own advertising and gather a fanbase. Together, they form the Aikatsu Academy! Streaming Club to record and broadcast their idol activities.Check out an animated trailer, as well as an introduction video:

The new project has also released images for its three stars. Previous Aikatsu! character designers Hiroko Yaguchi, Yukiko Aikei and Risa Miyadani are all on board for character designs for this latest installment.

Additionally, Ciao magazine will run a manga spinoff of the series and distributed a limited-edition card:
To celebrate the beginning of this new project, Shogakukan will host an Aikatsu Academy! booth at the upcoming Ribon Girls’ Manga Fest… and yes, you can get more cards there!
The idol-themed anime/game Aikatsu! project launched in October 2012, with many anime and game titles launching since then. Aikatsu Academy! will begin streaming on its own YouTube channel starting July 27, kicking things off with a live performance.
