The official website for the upcoming 3DCG anime film adaptation of the award-winning 1996 novel by Yoshiko Shikimura, Ganbatte Ikimasshoi (“Give It All”), has released a 60-second main trailer featuring the theme song “Sora-iro no Mizushibuki” (“Sky Blue-Colored Splash”) performed by Japanese girl idol group Boku ga Mitakatta Aozora.
The film’s main visual has also been revealed. The tagline reads: “We will not give up. I can say that with all of us.”

The film will debut in Japan on October 25, 2024. The original Ganbatte Ikimasshoi novel was published in Japan by Gentosha under their Gentosha Bunko imprint. Yuhei Sakuragi (Ashita sekai ga owaru to shite mo) directs the film at Studio Moe and REIRS. The novel has previously been adapted into a live-action film in 1998 and a live-action TV drama in 2005.Set in Matsuyama City in Ehime Prefecture, the story of Ganbatte Ikimasshoi follows the trials and tribulations of five girls who come together as members of their high school’s competitive rowing team. The film had its world premiere screening on June 10, 2024, in the Annecy Presents section of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2024, a non-competition section created for the first time this year to showcase the diversity and richness of animation works from around the world. The festival’s official website introduces the film’s story as:
A high-school girl, Etsuko, just spends her days without any aims or purpose, until one day, Riina, a transfer student, asks her help to set up a boat club. Although Etsuko reluctantly accepts after hearing Riina speak passionately about her dream, she gradually starts to embrace the club after spending time with her teammates.
