One of SUNSOFT’s 8-bit classics, the tough-to-master Gimmick!, is getting a sequel over 30 years later in Gimmick! 2. Publisher Clear River Games and developer Bitwave Games shared the first footage for the followup, which appears to maintain the same challenging platforming action while offering concessions for those who want a slightly more easygoing experience.SUNSOFT and co. also announced that David Wise—known as the composer for Donkey Kong Country, Battletoads and more—will be the game’s composer. In addition to the traditional challenges of Gimmick!, the sequel has a friendlier assisted mode. That might not be a bad option for anyone who has played the original and struggled to grasp the physics-based movement, much less the more advanced tricks typically relegated to speedrunners.
