ZOIDS, the 1999 TV anime inspired by Takara Tomy’s line of mechanical animal toys, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a round of events, collaborations and crossovers. In addition to the original series heading to various streaming platforms in Japan on August 15, 2024, a new piece of key art (below) has been revealed for the celebrations.
Additionally, a talk event will be held on September 14, 2024 at the Jiji Press Hall venue in Tokyo with voice actors Daisuke Kishio (the voice of Van), Makiko Ohmoto (the voice of Fiona) and Mitsuki Saiga (the voice of Zeke), as well as ZOIDS director Takao Kato and ZOIDS character designer Tadashi Sakazaki, scheduled to appear as guests.
ZOIDS 25th Anniversary Pop Up Tour promotional art
A ZOIDS 25th Anniversary Pop Up Tour will run from August 29 – September 18, 2024 at the Ikebukuro Loft venue in Tokyo. The free exhibition features line drawings and storyboards from the anime as well as toy dioramas and the sale of commemorative goods. The pop up tour will head to Osaka, Ehime and Aichi later in 2024 and other parts of Japan in 2025.
ZOIDS, First Kitchen and Wendy’s First Kitchen collaboration promotional art
Other anniversary events include a collaboration between ZOIDS, First Kitchen and Wendy’s First Kitchen that runs from August 22 – September 18, 2024. The event features an original ZOIDS-themed menu and the release of new 1/100 scale toys of the Blade Liger and Geno Saurer mecha scheduled for February 2025.
