The official website for the TV anime NieR:Automata Ver1.1a. announced today on June 12 that its upcoming second cour is set to premiere in Japan on July 5, 2024. At the same time, a key visual for the second cour newly drawn by Jun Nakai, who serves as the character designer and chief animation director, was unveiled.
As reported, the second cour’s opening theme song, “Black Box” is sung by singer LiSA. The song has already been featured in the anime’s latest trailer below.
The 12-episode first cour of the TV anime based on the action RPG game Nier: Automata, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, aired in 2023, and is now available on Crunchyroll. The series is described as such:
