Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199 is based on the feature film Be Forever Yamato (Yamato yo Towa ni) in 1980, with additional elements from the third original TV series Space Battleship Yamato III which aired from 1980-1981.Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn) serves as general director, series composition and screenplay writer. He previously served as series compositor and screenplay writer for the remake series’ second installment, Space Battleship Yamato 2202, in 2017-2019 and the third installment, Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage, in 2021-2022.
