During the last weekend of August, the town of Noboribetsu in Hokkaido comes alive for the Noboribetsu Jigoku Matsuri — also known as the Noboribetsu Hell Festival — to celebrate the legend of Jigokudani (Hell Valley) opening up, bringing the Great Demon King Enma and demons to the northern village for a giant party. For this year’s extravaganza, the event is teaming up with the classic Hokkaido-based series Golden Kamuy to elevate the hellish fun!A visual (featured above) featuring Lieutenant Tsurumi dressed as King Enma was released alongside lanterns that will be placed along the Gokuraku Street in downtown Noboribetsu Onsen Town.
This year’s Noboribetsu Jigoku Matsuri will run from August 23 to 25, with the Golden Kamuy collaboration on display during the same time. A pop-up shop selling merch based on the visual will open a day earlier on August 22 and run through the rest of the weekend.You can catch up on every episode of the Golden Kamuy anime series right here on Crunchyroll.
