Following the launch of an official website and X (formerly Twitter) account, the catch of the day is a brand-new original anime series titled Negative Positive Angler, which was just announced for October 2024 with the reveal of a teaser trailer and a visual, along with the main cast and staff.

Yutaka Uemura (Saga of Tanya the Evil) directs Negative Positive Angler at studio NUT, with series composition by Tomohiro Suzuki (One-Punch Man), character designs and chief animation direction by Hiromi Taniguchi (Ranma 1/2 remake) and music by Tomoki Kikuya (BOCCHI THE ROCK!).

The story of Negative Positive Angler follows Tsunehiro Sasaki, a depressed college student burdened with debt and being told that he only has two years left to live. After falling into the sea while on the run from debt collectors, Tsunehiro is rescued by friends Hana and Takaaki and soon becomes hooked on fishing himself.
