Even if you don’t know CoroCoro Comic by name, you’re sure to know at least a few of its featured titles. The magazine has run some of the most legendary kids’ manga in history. And they’re celebrating their 555th issue with a fully animated music video celebrating their past, present and future.
The video is set to “Makimonogatari,” a new song written and performed by singer/songwriter and Vocaloid producer Eve. The music video was animated at Studio BONES and directed by Nobutaka Yoda of 10GAUGE, who has directed openings, endings and trailers for shows including Dr. STONE, SPY x FAMILY and My Hero Academia.
Leading the charge in the action-packed video is Chrono, the star of Kimura Fuuta’s Fate Rewinder (which premiered in the magazine in 2022). Keep your eyes peeled for cameos from the manga magazine’s many other hit titles—including Pokémon, Doraemon, Duel Masters, Yo-kai Watch, Beyblade, ZOIDS and Bikkuriman.
Shogakukan’s CoroCoro Comic Magazine began circulation in 1977 and has gone on to become one of the bestselling manga magazines in print. Initially launched as a new home for hit children’s manga Doraemon, the magazine has played host to many other popular children’s manga—both original titles and manga spinoffs of popular toy and game franchises.
