The next adventure in the Dragon Ball franchise will be coming next anime season! Heading into its TV broadcast, and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the entire Dragon Ball anime series, the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima will premiere at Daimatsuri on October 6 in Japan. Daimatsuri is a portmanteau of Daima and matsuri, the Japanese word for festival. A visual for the event was released alongside all the details.
The Daimatsuri will be held at Tokyo Big Sight with three showings of the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima during the day’s festivities. The first two screenings will be held with a stage event with some of the cast, while the last showing will just feature the episode. In between the episode showings are stages for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, Dragon Ball Super Divers, Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle and more.Tickets for the event are free, but are only available by lottery. The first round, which also grants a guaranteed stage event ticket, is available for applications until August 27. The second lottery without the stage event ticket starts September 2.
Dragon Ball Daima is directed by Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki at Toei Animation. Yuko Kakihara writes the series composition, with animation character designs from Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru. Dragon Ball manga creator, the late Akira Toriyama, worked on the original story and character designs. The series is set to premiere in October 2024 on Fuji TV in Japan.Most recently, Toriyama’s series inspired the Dragon Ball Super TV anime, followed by a handful of anime films, including 2022’s Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO.
