The original manga author Yuichi Hiiragi released a celebratory comment following the news. “Thanks to your support, Please Put Them On, Takamine-san will be made into an anime! When I heard about the anime project from my editor, I didn’t feel it was real and was skeptical, even thinking, ‘My editor had gone crazy?’ However, as the number of people involved in the Takamine-san anime increased day by day, and as I had more opportunities to see the work and processes, I felt relieved and realized that ‘My editor was not going crazy.’ And above all, it’s all thanks to all of you who read and supported Takamine-san until it was made into an anime. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you!”Hiiragi also posted a celebratory illustration, featured below.
Hiiragi has serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker magazine since January 2019, and eight tankobon volumes released in Japan to date. Yen Press publishes the manga’s English edition and describes the story:
Takane Takamine is the goddess of her high school. With perfect grades, athletic prowess, and unrivaled beauty, this student council president is the apple of everyone’s eye-including Koushi Shirota, a below-average student with no friends or social prospects whatsoever. But he’ll soon find out the secret behind Takamine’s unbelievable success-her underwear! When she strips, she can undo any of her past actions, and now that Koushi knows, Takamine won’t let him off so easy…
