With major titles like My Hero Academia and JUJUTSU KAISEN leaving the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, who’s going to be its next big hero? The manga magazine’s next big contest hopes to discover fresh new talent and find out!The JUMP Next Generation Battle Manga Award has a very specific goal in mind: to find the next poster children, both professional and amateur, for the magazine. And the winners will have all the support they need—from money to editors to big-name backup—to make that happen.Four big names will be judging the event:
Tite Kubo (creator of BLEACH)
Kohei Horikoshi (creator of My Hero Academia)
Yuki Tabata (creator of Black Clover)
Gege Akutami (creator of JUJUTSU KAISEN)
Horikoshi has also drawn a dynamic key visual for the contest, depicting the protagonists of each judge’s most famous work.
Any battle-themed manga of 47 pages or fewer is eligible for entry, and both professionals and amateurs are invited to enter. A grand prize of 1 million yen will be awarded to the winner, with other cash prizes ranging from 10,000 yen to 500,000 yen also in play.First, second and third place winners are guaranteed publication in Shonen Jump magazine’s digital edition. First and second place winners are also guaranteed publication in the GIGA special edition, and first place winners get a spot in the print magazine. All honorable mention and up placers will receive assistance from an editor from one of the four featured manga.Best of all, winners whose work is serialized in print will receive a recommendation from one of the four judges on an obi upon publication.The deadline for entry is January 20, 2025. Winners are scheduled to be announced in March 2025.
