Time to pack up your tents folks as Nintendo announced today that the popular Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp smartphone game will be coming to a close on November 28 – though, you will be able to pitch your tent someplace else. Nintendo also revealed that a separate offline, paid, app will be released around the time of Pocket Camp’s closure, letting all players move their camps to the new app and continue playing.
The first major part of the closure will be the end of Pocket Camp Club subscription payments, which finish on October 28, one month before the closure of the game. Those who renew or join Pocket Camp Club in the month of October will be able to use the paid features until the final day of the free-to-play version of the game as well as get a special badge. These features will not move over to the paid offline version of the game, which has to be purchased separately.
Leaf Ticket sales will be ending on November 26 and will only be usable until the end of service. Again, the Leaf Tickets will not go over to the paid application.
The paid version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be released ahead of the closing of the free-to-play version. Because it will be a one-time purchase and an offline game, features such as Market Boxes, gifts and going to other players’ campsites will not be available in the new version. More details on the paid version will be announced in-app before the closure.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp came online on November 21, 2017, and when it closes, would have been running for seven years. The mobile game was released before the Nintendo Switch game Animal Crossing: New Horizons, helping the console game to become one of the highest-selling games of all time.
