Macross: Do You Remember Love?, the Macross anime franchise’s first feature film will get its 4K remaster edition Blu-ray set on January 29, 2025. As a theatrical version that reconstructed the story of Super Dimension Fortress Macross, the first TV series aired from 1982 to 1983, Macross: Do You Remember Love? was released in Japanese theaters on July 21, 1984. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of its release, the 4K remaster project has been launched. The 35mm negative film will be remastered in 4K using the latest film scanning technology.The 4K remaster set includes a 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray and a Blu-ray disc. Each includes the film’s 1984 theatrical edition and 2016 complete edition. A special booklet featuring new interviews and a box with a newly-drawn illustration by Haruhiko Mikimoto, the character designer, will be included in the set as a bonus. Pre-orders will be accepted at the price of 9,900 yen (68 USD) until January 3.Additionally, theatrical screenings of the 4K ULTRA HD edition are also planned at 40 theaters across Japan from January 25, 2025. Prior to the release, the Blu-ray set will be sold at the theaters.
