Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara (“What’s Up with Detectives These Days, Really…”), a comedy / mystery manga by Masakuni Igarashi, is being adapted into a newly announced TV anime that will broadcast in Japan in 2025. An official home page and social media feed have been published for the series.
ASCII Media Works publishes the original Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara manga in their Dengeki Maoh seinen manga magazine. Rion Kujo directs the TV anime adaptation, and voice actors Junichi Suwabe and Kana Hanazawa will reprise their roles from the previous voice comic as leading characters Keiichiro Nagumo and Mashiro, respectively.

The story of Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara follows Keiichiro Nagumo, a formerly brilliant detective who as a teenager never met a case he couldn’t solve. Nowadays, though, Keiichiro is a washed-up and broken-down old guy who hasn’t kept up with the times. One day, a high school girl named Mashiro shows up at the Nagumo Detective Agency and insists that she wants to be a detective and demands to be Keiichiro’s assistant, so the two of them become unlikely partners…
