On the eve of this weekend’s Anime NYC, the event teamed up with Japan Society to host the inaugural American Anime Awards ceremony. With author and localizer Matt Alt hosting, translator and author Frederik L. Schodt was officially inducted into the American Manga Awards Hall of Fame and the winners were announced for the six main categories. Here’s who took home the first-ever awards:
