Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan (Return of The Great General) ranked fifth in its seventh weekend in the Japan box office of August 23-25, one position down from last weekend. Its total accumulative gross is now 7.1 billion yen (49.15 million USD) from 4.85 million ticket sales according to Kogyo Tsushinsha. The official X (formerly Twitter) for the Kingdom live-action film series previously announced before the weekend on August 23 that the fourth installment already earned a cumulative total of 7 billion yen (48.46 million USD) on over 4.77 million admissions in 43 days since debuting in Japanese theaters on July 12.The fourth film already became the top-grossing release in the live-action Kingdom film series, and its total box office gross has earned 123 percent of that of the first film — previously the most successful film in the series.

Eiga: Crayon Shin-chan: Oratachi no Kyoryu Nikki (Crayon Shin-chan The Movie: Our Dinosaurs Diary), the 31st feature film from the Crayon Shin-chan anime franchise, earned 214 million yen (1.49 million USD) on 171,000 admissions and ranked third in its third weekend, down one position from last weekend. It now has a 17-day cumulative of 1.8 billion yen (12.45 million USD) on 1.5 million admissions in Japan.

The latest feature film in the My Hero Academia anime franchise dropped three places to sixth place in its fourth weekend. The film’s official X (formerly Twitter) reported on August 26 that its cumulative box office gross has reached 2.74 billion yen (18.94 million USD) from 1.9 million ticket sales.

The live-action film adaptation of Minami Mizuno’s (Rainbow Days) romance shojo manga series Koi wo Shiranai Bokutachi wa (“We Don’t Know Love Yet”) opened in 339 theaters across Japan on August 23 and ranked seventh in its opening weekend. The movie ranked fourth in Filmarks’ first-day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 3.78/5.0 based on 247 reviews.Additionally, the live-action film adaptation of Rensuke Oshikiri’s (High Score Girl creator) horror manga Sayuri debuted in 138 theaters on August 23 and ranked eighth. The movie also ranked third in Filmarks’ ranking with an average rating of 4.02/5.0 based on 1,834 reviews. THE FIRST SLAM DUNK ranked tenth, one position down from last weekend, in the second weekend of its revival screening. The re-release is scheduled to run in over 380 theaters across Japan for a limited time until September 1.
