Bandai Namco Online’s Blue Protocol had an exciting goal: to let every player feel like the protagonist of their own anime. Sadly, gamers in the West will not get to experience all this MMO had to offer. It was announced that the game will be shutting down its servers in Japan on January 18, 2025. Bandai Namco states that the decision to end the service was a difficult one, citing that they feel it is “beyond our capabilities to continue providing a service that satisfies everyone.”

To that end, Bandai Namco’s work with Amazon Games to bring the game to the West has also ceased. The company clarifies that they “have enjoyed a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of BLUE PROTOCOL, and both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the game to players around the world.”Bandai Namco’s full statement can be read here.
