One’s a bloody revenge thriller published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and the other’s a musical slice-of-life published online on Shonen Jump+, but they now share a key characteristic: they’re both recipients of top honors in the 2024 Next Manga Awards!
After 8,212 submissions were whittled down to 100 nominees for fans to vote on earlier this year, the ninth edition of the joint venture betwen monthly magazine Da Vinci and digital content site niconico today announced Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi and Kuwahali and Tetsuo Ideuchi’s Girl meets Rock! as the winners of the Print Manga and Web Manga categories, respectively, from 522,257 total votes.
The below celebratory illustrations by the authors were also released.
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun -if- Episode of Mafia took 2nd place and Tsumiki Ogami & the Strange Everyday Life took 3rd place in the Print Manga category, while RuriDragon and Vtuber Kusamura Shigemi filled out the podium for Web Manga. My Girlfriend’s Not Here Today received the Global Special Prize (English Edition) and Samurai in Another World received the Global Special Prize (Traditional Chinese Edition).
