Earlier this summer, it was confirmed that the trend of Gintama compilation films would continue, with a third in the series covering the show’s Kintama Arc. Today, we’ve got a date locked in for its Japanese cinema debut: November 22.
A new poster for the compilation film also confirms the release date:
This third film follows on from two previous compilation movies, covering the Thorny Arc and Courtesan of a Nation Arc, respectively. The Kintama Arc was told in the anime’s 253rd to 256th episodes in October 2012. The story revolves around Kintoki Sakata, a stranger with straight blond hair who arrives at Odd Job Kin-chan to take the place of the protagonist Gintoki Sakata, when he is away for a long period of time.
More details will be announced at a later date, including previous of special goods handed out to theatergoers.
Crunchyroll currently streams the Gintama anime series, describing it thus:
In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
