In what might be a first for Weekly Shonen Jump, an all-female duo of well-established manga creators debuted a new series in the magazine today bringing the author of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun and the artist of the ill-fated Act-Age together to create Ichi the Witch. The series, which follows the only male magical user, is written by Osamu Nishi and illustrated by Shiro Usazaki and is simulpubbed on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump platforms in English.

Nishi is best known for the ongoing Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga, which is published in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion, as well as Hotel Helheim, which ran for 11 chapters in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. back in 2015. Ichi the Witch is her first manga in Weekly Shonen Jump. This is Shiro Usazaki’s second serialization in Jump after Act-Age was canceled following the arrest of its author for indecent acts against minors. Usazaki also published a range of one-shots on Shueisha platforms between 2020 and 2023.
