Animal-themed mixed media franchise Kemono Friends is celebrating its 10th anniversary soon, and to commemorate the event, a new piece of artwork (above) featuring some 370 Friends has been published.
Additionally, a new stage play adaptation entitled Butai “Kemono Friends” JAPARI STAGE! ~Kimi no Ashioto ga Mata Kikoeta~ (“Stage Play Kemono Friends JAPARI STAGE! ~I Can Still Here Your Footsteps~”) has been announced. Hiroki Murakami writes and direst the new stage play, and it will run for 11 performances from November 8 – 17, 2024 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Club eX venue in Tokyo, Japan.

The story takes place in Japari Park, an enormous integrated zoo built somewhere in this world. A mysterious substance found there, called “Sand Star,” causes the animals to turn into humanoid beings called “Animal Girls”! These new creatures spend every day peacefully with the zoo’s visitors… but after some time, a lost child turns up in the park. The child’s attempt to find the way home turns into a great adventure with the Animal Girls!
