Next year, Key’s visual novel Summer Pockets will come to life as an anime series. Today, the tide rolls in with all sorts of new information: new art, a trailer, returning voice actors and theme song performers. The information was shared during today’s “Summer Pockets Prologue Party,” a special stand-alone event celebrating the upcoming series.

In addition to the (mostly) returning core cast previously announced, eight more voice actors from the games will be returning to voice their characters in the anime adaptation:

Shizuku Mizuori: Voiced by Sahomi Koyama (Chouhou in Shin Koihime Musou)
Umi Kato: Voiced by Aimi Tanaka (Ryuzu Birma in Re:ZERO)
Kyoko Misaki: Voiced by Megumi Takamoto (Winry Rockbell in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
Kobato Naruse: Voiced by Minoru Shiraishi (Minoru Shiraishi in Lucky Star)

Last but not least, we have some news concerning the show’s theme songs. The original visual novel’s opening and ending themes, “Alkatale” and “Lasting Moment” respectively, will once again serve as the opening and ending themes for the anime adaptation. Konomi Suzuki is confirmed to be performing them, though it is unknown yet whether the original recordings will be used or if new anime-specific versions will be recorded.
Tomoki Kobayashi (Remake Our Life!) serves as director of the TV anime, alongside series composition writer Keiichiro Ochi (The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio) and character designer Mai Otsuka (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom). And feel. (ISLAND) works on anime production.
The visual novel was first released in June 2018 on PC in Japan and was released in an English version on Steam in February 2020. The visual novel is described by Key below:
To help manage his recently deceased grandmother’s effects,the protagonist Takahara Hairi travels to Torishirojima during his summer vacation.
As he gets off the ferry boat, he spots a lone girl standing on the pier.
A girl who simply gazes into the distance as her long hair flutters in the wind.
He looks at the girl in utter bewilderment, but before he realizes it, she can no longer be found anywhere.
Hairi finds himself starting to adjust to life on this island, surrounded by nature far lusher than anything he has ever come across back in the city.
Time seems to flow by casually on this island, and as it does, memories of something nostalgic keep coming back to him…
