This weekend, the final Splatfest for Splatoon 3, and the series’ biggest yet, was held, bringing 72 hours of music, lights, battles and painting to Nintendo Switch’s across the world.
After the weekend ended, Nintendo confirmed that they would be ending “regular updates” for the game, effectively stopping full development on the popular third-person paint shooter game and also released a look back at all the Splatfests from this generation of squids.
Do note, the video confirms the winner of the Grand Festival.
Though Nintendo said they’re ending regular updates for Splatoon 3, the game developer confirmed that Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights events will be happening as will Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges and balance patches with minor adjustments.
Splatoon 3 was released for the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022, and was the fastest-selling game in Nintendo’s history in Japan at the time, eventually losing that title to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet later that year. The Splatoon 3: Side Order DLC was released on February 22, 2024.
